Unearthly Trance judges Unearthly Trance giveaway

You guys are, to quote a certain Danish drummer, nutty. We’re giving away two CDs of Unearthly Trance’s V, and we asked you to name two opening acts for a UT-headlined show. The answers ranged from boring (all-sludge bills) to brilliant (Neil Hamburger, a public execution) to just plain wacko. Torche? Envy?? Dying Fetus??? Have you guys even heard Unearthly Trance? 99% of you should never become concert promoters.

I punted on the task of sorting through this shitstorm, and Unearthly Trance graciously received. That’s right, Ryan Lipynsky & co. read through your sorry-ass submissions and picked two winners. Here’s what Lipynsky said:

So we decided on two winners. We based it on the fact that we would love for these shows to actually happen in reality.

Khanate and Warhorse is my top pick because it reminds me of the early 2000’s when we were first starting out.

Warhorse playing again would be great because they disbanded way too early. If they came back now, I bet they would be way bigger than they were back then. It can be with Todd or Terry on guitar too! Either or is fine. UT played with both versions of the band back in the day and Jerry and Mike are great guys!

Khanate is special to us as they started out around same time as we did. We started in 2000 and I actually met Stephen O’ Malley through Greg Anderson [whom I was friendly with] as Stephen was looking to start a new band in NYC as he had recently moved there. I told him that we had already started up UT but we were out on Long Island back then and he was in the city anyway. But that is how we got connected with him to produce SOS SOS…

To sum up, Warhorse, Khanate + UT would draw straws for line-up order and we would each get an hour to play. Free show with free beer.

Jex Thoth and Eyehategod is another favorite because of how possible this show could be! UT opens the show playing V from beginning to end, then Jex Thoth comes out and graces us all with her spectacular voice and aura and Eyehategod brings it all down like only they can do!
