The Body & Full Of Hell Team Up For "Earth is a Cage"

Fresh off the heels of their 2016 collaborative album, One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache, The Body and Full Of Hell have announced a second full length mash-up, Ascending A Mountain Of Heavy Light, out via Thrill Jockey on November 17th. The two have also dropped the first single from the record, “Earth is a Cage”, which you can listen to below.

“Earth is a Cage” is about as ugly and feedback crunched as you’d expect from a meeting of the minds between a grind band and a noise peppered doom duo, but it’s also surprisingly fun. The song revolves around a steady electronic pulse, not too far off from the kind you might hear on a gabber track, with Full Of Hell and The Body trading off violent outbursts of noise like two teens in a dance off. The whole thing keeps you on your toes; you never know when or where the next strike of harsh distortion is coming.

On their first meeting, Full Of Hell and The Body felt like they had been melding into one big messy noise machine, using their combined weight to press their audiences faces into the mud. The tone here is much more playful, although no less aggressive. “Earth is a Cage” suggests that this paring’s second date is a much looser affair. Hopefully the sparks continue to fly on the rest of Ascending A Mountain Of Heavy Light.
