Sea of Bones - "Hopelessness and Decay" (Song Premiere)

seaofbones

Sea of Bones is the soundtrack to the heat death of the universe. Slow, sweltering, misery, an engulfing wall of grim certainty and rumbling defeat. The past eleven years have shown this Connecticut three-piece’s melding of crushing, droning doom metal with transcendent, heavily-effected atmospheres with a mastery which honestly rivals Neurosis. As made evident by its title, there is no beauty in “Hopelessness and Decay,” whose ten-plus minutes in length shows this band laying waste with dismal plod and reckless rot. As Summer breathes its second wind here in my home base of Chicago, I feel myself melting, hollowing out, with Sea of Bones as the soundtrack to my withering.

Sea of Bones’s split with blackened crust masters Ramlord will see a vinyl release on Broken Limbs Recordings next week (September 16th) as part of a larger release batch with releases by Cara Neir, Wildspeaker, Iron Gavel, and Black Tar Prophet. See below for an exclusive first listen to “Hopelessness and Decay.” You can hear Ramlord’s half at CVLT Nation.
