Jungle Rot: CD & t-shirt giveaway

. . .

Jungle Rot, death metal’s most average band, outdid themselves on their new album Kill on Command.

Incredibly, it’s one of my favorite death metal records this year: big, burly, raw but with modern enough production to avoid the trap of rehashing OSDM.

It’s also hard to believe that their video for “Rise up and Revolt” has over 28,000 views. I guess being on Victory is good for something!

The band really stepped up and worked hard on its songwriting. Everything is sharper this time around – hooks, structures, making songs sound different from each other. The war-themed lyrics are smart; I totally see this record picking up where Bolt Thrower left off. Considering how much I love Those Once Loyal, that’s saying a lot.

To celebrate this (over)achievement, I have a Kill on Command CD and Jungle Rot t-shirt (size XL) to give away.

For a chance to win, simply enter in the comments below what you think is the most overachieving metal album ever.

Which album was so good, it shouldn’t have come from the band that made it?

My nomination is Overkill’s Horrorscope, one of my all-time favorite metal records. I love Overkill to a degree that’s probably unhealthy, but even I recognize their limitations. Horrorscope is almost too good to be by Overkill.

Please name only one album (entries that name more than one will be disqualified), and say why you named it. The entry that makes the most convincing case for its album wins. International entrants are welcome. Entries will close at midnight PST a week from today, Monday, August 29.
