Palms debut new album, single

. . .

It’s probably my aging brain, but I keep reading Palms as Psalms. If it were Psalms, the name would still fit. Palms features three-fifths of Isis (Jeff Caxide, Aaron Harris, and Bryant Clifford Meyer) along with Deftones’ Chino Moreno.

Their debut, Palms, is out on June 25. Psalms, in a biblical sense, express through song the fervor of a religious belief; songs of thanks, songs of praise; songs of yearning. Palms, the band name, conjures up warm breezes, Los Angeles (where they’re from), and strange desert beauty and harshness, all of which are represented in the music. Chino’s vocals, both powerful and distant, fit this mood, and the biblical mood, very well.

Listen to Palms’ first single, “Patagonia”, streaming now on SoundCloud, and stay tuned to Invisible Oranges for an interview with Aaron coming soon.
