Picturesque Ancient Times on Osi and the Jupiter's "Lœra∂r"

In one fell swoop, we were in winter’s grip. The leaves fell and were blanketed in snow. It was picturesque, here in Chicago, in the early morning hours when I commute — before the snow was rendered into grey, putrid slush. This is the time of year when I turn away from my usual black metal for a spell in favor of something equally as vivid: neofolk and its variants. Newcomers Osi and The Jupiter‘s cello-forward, folk-influenced music is that perfect sort of graphic music, as earthen as it is ephemeral and spiritual. Listen to an exclusive premiere of “Lœra∂r” below.

Osi and the Jupiter’s music feels ancient, rendered from a nonexistent pagan cult from a time long before memory. Crystal clear and emotive, this Ohio duo’s music is far and away from their home — a cinematic viewing of a bygone epoch. Nordlige Rúnaskog paints a vivid picture of Osi and the Jupiter’s imagination of the pagan ancients.

From the artist:

“Loeradr” is about the spiritual connection to the yew tree and how through ritualistic nature rites taking in a godform to accomplish one’s goals through will.

Nordlige Rúnaskog releases November 29th via Eisenwald.
