New grinds from Wormrot, Noisear, and Rotten Sound

Wormrot – “Manipulation”

. . .

Grind is in the air. 2011 brings a clutch of hotly-anticipated grindcore records, and previews of them are popping up.

WORMROT

Above is “Manipulation”, from Wormrot’s forthcoming album Dirge on Earache. (That’s also the album artwork.) Release dates are May 3 (US CD), May 17 (US picture disc LP), and May 23 (UK/EU CD/LP). A limited edition UK/European version will contain a bonus DVD with a making-of feature, rehearsal footage, and bonus tracks. Wormrot will tour the US in March and April, with stops at Scion Rock Fest and SXSW.

NOISEAR

Noisear’s Subvert the Dominant Paradigm comes out on Relapse February 1 in North America and February 7 internationally. (Pre-order it here.) Grindcore albums enjoyable as such are rare – I feel EPs are the best format for the music – but Subvert is one. It’s fast, slow, and everything in between, with a Discordance Axis-esque sense of, well, discordance. Hear “Life Consumed You” and see Santos’ album artwork here.

ROTTEN SOUND

Rotten Sound’s Curse will come out on Relapse, with these release dates: March 15 (US), March 18 (Germany/Benelux), March 21 (UK), and March 16 (rest of EU). After last year’s blistering Napalm EP (reviewed here), I’m looking forward to this record. In April, they will tour the EU alongside Trap Them, Gaza, The Kandidate, and Haust (dates.) Also, Rotten Sound will inexplicably tour the US from 1/31 to 3/4 as part of Finnish Metal Tour 2, alongside Finntroll, Ensiferum, and Barren Earth (dates). WTF??? Pre-order the CD and CD/t-shirt package here and here, respectively, and hear new song “Plan” below.

Other upcoming grinds:

Brutal Truth, Cretin, Cripple Bastards, Exhumed, Fuck the Facts, Gridlink, Landmine Marathon, Maruta, Murder Construct, Napalm Death, Pig Destroyer, Total Fucking Destruction. It will be a good year for grindcore.
