Machinations of Fate - Celestial Prophecies

Stars Align within Machinations of Fate's "Cosmic Womb" (Early Track Stream)

Weaving together aggression and undeniable charisma, Machination of Fate‘s upcoming album Celestial Prophecies is extreme metal at its most straightforwardly captivating: a riff-driven onslaught steeped in melody. The Kentucky group’s self-titled album released in 2020 highlighted their love of classic melodic death, thrash, and black metal, but Celestial Prophecies zooms in even closer, showing listeners an ironclad vision of what melodic metal was–and could still be.

We’re premiering a new single “Cosmic Womb” below: note the crisp, legible production that pushes guitars and vocals to the forefront, as well as the insanely memorable motif that kicks off the song and develops throughout. Even though melodic extreme metal is far more prolific than it was thirty years ago, only a select few bands manage to elicit nostalgia like Machinations of Fate do–and fewer still build on that to accomplish their own unique visions.

Bassist/guitarist Jason Pate comments:

“Cosmic Womb” is somewhat a departure from the normal Machinations of Fate material. Slower, melancholy, and more of a traditional song structure. It was the last song written for the new album and to me the most challenging. The middle section of the song around 2:53 is one of the more intense parts of the album. Melodic, odd time and beautifully aggressive, these are the first trade off solos Brian and I have done. Cody’s vocals/lyrics make the song more desperate.

Celestial Prophecies releases July 28th via Redefining Darkness Records.
