The Transforming Magick of Lucifericon’s “Al-Khem-Me”

Al-Khem-Me — the ancient art of transmutation. Though some believe it simply refers to the lost, forbidden art of changing lead to gold, there is a deeper meaning than that. Alchemy, much like on Lucifericon‘s long-awaited debut Al-Khem Me, centers around this idea of transformation through a similarly ancient-sounding style of slinking death metal magic. Listen to an exclusive stream of their debut album below.

Much like alchemy, Lucifericon’s first album, following nine years of composition and performance, is multi-faceted, something deeper and more functional than in modern name alone. Though, on the surface, this is war-like, slithering, and horrific, Lucifericon’s intricacy and magical atmospheres are those of subtlety and oddity. What first manifests as potentially static, noisy madness slowly churns and boils into its true self. Transforming into a clattering, jagged shape of extremity, the forbidden art of Al-Khem-Me casts a changing spell on itself. However chaotic, there is a deliberation and dynamism to Lucifericon which renders the music liquescent, flowing. As a fluid, Al-Khem-Me becomes itself.

Al-Khem-Me is out this Friday via Invictus Productions. Follow Lucifericon on Facebook.
