Löbo - "Aqui em baixo a alma mede-se com mãos cheias de pedras" (Premiere)

As a rule I don’t like bands like Lisbon’s Löbo. Ambient and hypnotic, their take on extreme music doesn’t draw attention to itself. I have a folder on my computer for this type of material named “Yoga Metal.” It makes for ideal music to listen to while concentrating on something else.

But if you do pay attention to Löbo, you might be surprised. Their upcoming album, Alma, managed to keep my attention for its full runtime. Just because this music doesn’t demand to be the center of your attention doesn’t mean it is not beautiful, and Löbo is definitely beautiful. Case in point, opening track “Aqui em baixo a alma mede-se com mãos cheias de pe.”
