Kvelertak streaming new song "Berserkr"

I have to admit I was a little disappointed in the ’80s pop-metal-leaning lead single off Kvelertak‘s upcoming third album Nattesferd, but the ripping new single “Berserkr” has me feeling as excited about this band as ever. It begins with the kind of black metal attack they’ve used to open songs before (like “Trepan,” for example) and throws a Slayer-ish whammy bar lead over it, before turning into their usual driving punk/metal. But it goes from a good song to a great song about halfway through, when the band changes pace a bit and transitions into brighter, addictively catchy riffage that should have you dusting off the ol’ air guitar in no time. Rock out below.

Nattesferd is due out May 13 via Roadrunner, and as mentioned, the band is supporting it on tour with Torche and WIld Throne. They’ll hit NYC for an Invisible Oranges-presented NYC show on Wednesday (4/13) at Irving Plaza. Tickets are still available, and we’re also giving away a pair.
