Invisible Oranges Turns 10

metalbirthday

Ten years ago today, Cosmo Lee published the first article on Invisible Oranges, a review of Psychopathological by The Sceptic. In the decade since, this website has grown where similar websites have shuttered.

I can’t speak for everyone else on staff, but to me Invisible Oranges was more than an MP3 blog when I began reading it. This site was a bastion of good writing and thoughtful criticism in an internet that seemed indifferent to heavy metal. I gravitated to the thoughtful commentary and community the site fostered. Invisible Oranges taught me how to think like a writer, and how to listen to music with self-awareness.

Normally, too much self-congratulating wouldn’t be our style. However, we do love anniversaries.

In the spirit of celebration (and artists trying to get out of record contracts without writing any new music) this week will be our Greatest Hits compilation. For the rest of the week, contributing writers and editors past will present their favorite pieces of content on Invisible Oranges. Join us on this combination trip down memory lane and victory lap in the comment thread below. I’d love to hear what your favorite Invisible Oranges feature is.

Cheers.
