Interment – “Scent of the Buried” (Track Premiere)

If you thought the wait time for GnR’s Chinese Democracy was a long one, Sweden death metallers Interment surely blow them out of the water. 28 years (!!) stretch after forming, the band is releasing their sophomore album Scent of the Buried on April 1.

Interment started under the name Beyond during the autumn 1988 and released a rehearsal demo called “Birth of the Dead” in the summer 1990. The original line-up was Dan Larsson (vocals), Johan Jansson (guitar), John Forsberg (guitar), Tomas Änstgård (bass) and Sonny Svedlund (drums), but has since changed many times since for various tours and projects. They released Into the Crypts of Blasphemy in 2010.

Now revived, the band’s new album was recorded and mixed by the legendary Tomas Skogsberg (Nihilist, Entombed, Dismember, Grave, etc) at Sunlight Studio, Stockholm. The new record still holds faithful to a late ’80’s death metal sound, and that ain’t a bad thing.

“Scent of the Buried is actually the very first song I wrote for the album,” explained guitarist Johan Jansson. “It’s an Autopsy inspired song and the title of the song also became the title of the new album! Hail the gods!”
