Grok Fans The Flames On "Sacred Fire Without Form"

Hot on the heels of last year’s A Spineless Descent, Grok returns with a new EP of keyboard-lade, arcane black metal. Much like its predecessor, Sacred Fire Without Form thinks about atmosphere in the vertical sense, forfeiting the “song length” game in favor of building atop itself. Moving forward as a literal wall of texture, Grok’s melodic take on black metal, echoing the classic works of the early ’90s without fully losing itself in emulation and worship. Autumnal in atmosphere, the hypnotic plod of this new EP is warm and suffocating, but heralds the onset of winter with a distant, cold atmosphere hidden deep within its ever enclosing stone walls.

Sacred Fire Without Form is out this Friday on EEE Recordings and Quest for Fire Records (which is exclusively distributed through Cloister Recordings US). Listen to the four song EP below.

From the artist:

[Grok and Luciferianism are connected in a] ‘do as you will’ kind of way. Power of self, dominance of ego, etc.

Life as a villain in the eyes of society

But even more so, as the ultimate freedom. The ultimate rejection of everything we are taught as truth and readopting what actually feels right as the guiding light of existence. We create what we are to be and what we wish to be. The only thing more powerful than ourselves is death.
