Shedding Golden Light on Black Metal's Monochromatic Nature in "Sacred Colour of the Source of Light"

Black metal, in its classical sense, is a monochromatic genre, Black and white, snow and darkness, corpse painted onto the night sky. To Golden Light, however, this is not the case. Through meditative droning and psychedelic sound, the duo of E. Henderson (also of Njiqahdda et. al.) and Meghan Wood (Crown of Asteria) searches for the sacred sound which gives life to all. Listen to an exclusive stream of “Sacred Colour Of The Source Of Light” below.

Though similarities can be made to Henderson’s other projects — Golden Light is meant to be a continuation of his now-defunct Oaks of Bethel project — and the colorful nature within can be found in all his projects (especially Njiqahdda), there is a different sort of sacred character found within Golden Light. A distant thrumming belying a blasting nature, Golden Light’s Sacred Colour of the Source of Light LP increases black metal’s color palette in one fell swoop.

Sacred Colour of the Source of Light releases April 24th on Iron Bonehead Productions.
