Gnaw Their Tongues and Crowhurst Burn Eternally in New Collaboration

It was only a matter of time until these two prolific makers of nightmare music fully collaborated on an album. The dense, industrial doom from the Netherlands’ Gnaw Their Tongues and Crowhurst‘s own impenetrably harsh noise are two sides of the same coin — structured and unstructured chaos. Listen to an exclusive stream of their collaborative album Burning Ad Infinitum below.

In four parts, this album is… a tough listen. Noise is this alien, bizarre thing to those who maintain their distance, yet Gnaw Their Tongues and Crowhurst never fully dwell in its filth-encrusted lair for long. No, the game for Burning Ad Infinitum is one of transformation: taking what came before it and tweaking it into something different, rinse, and repeat. Harsh noise turns into drone, which turns into black metal (especially on second track “Speared Martyrs”), which turns into punishing proto-industrial, and so on.

This is exciting, burdensome music — something which demands patience and an open mind (as well as the willingness to experience tinnitus afterward). It’s easy to write an experimental album like this off; noisy music, especially to this caliber of volume and rigor, demands a specific time and place. In a world nearing full dystopia, the time for Burning Ad Infinitum just happens to be now.

Burning At Infinitum — A Collaboration is out Tuesday, August 28th, on Crown and Throne, Ltd.

From the artist:

I am beyond happy to work with Crown and Throne and Maurice on this. I’ve been a Gnaw Their Tongues fan for ages, as well as a fan of the C&T roster which continues to release some of the most cutting edge and forward thinking new music today. It’s been an honor and a pleasure, and am grateful that they were open to commissioning the incredible cover by Caroline Harrison and Brandon Geurts – legends in their own right.

–Jay Gambit, Crowhurst
