Fuming Mouth are on first of four on the upcoming, ridiculously stacked tour with Harms Way, Jesus Piece, and Portrayal of Guilt, and if you’re going to this gig — as any hardcore fan should — you’ll definitely want to be there on time to catch Fuming Mouth’s opening set. All four bands on this tour mix metal, hardcore, and more in different ways, and Fuming Mouth’s hardcore-meets-death-metal attack should make for a killer start to the night.
Fuming Mouth have been perfecting their sound since their self-titled 2013 EP, and they’re now finally set to release their first full-length album The Grand Descent this Friday via Triple B Records (pre-order). We already posted its songs “Fatalism” and “Out of the Shadows,” and we’re now premiering a stream of the whole thing. Fuming Mouth come off like hardcore kids at heart, but their love of OG-style, late 1980s death metal is strong and they channel that sound as genuinely and viciously as they channel hardcore. The Grand Descent bounces between the two genres seamlessly, and it’s no surprise it works so well. Death metal has taken on all kinds of different forms since its incubation period as an offshoot of thrash, and if you trace its roots back even further than that you’ll eventually land on punk. For anyone who favors metal that embraces its shared history with punk, this Fuming Mouth album is a must-hear. Listen to the whole thing below (including bonus track “Half Life”).
