Foreseen – “Fearmonger” (Song Premiere)

grave danger foreseen

. . .

The last time Helsinki thrash outfit Foreseen toured the states, they played support for Power Trip. Some of that band’s gang shout fury has bled through on their upcoming sophomore album, Grave Danger (Side note: what a perfect album title that is). Breakdowns reminiscent of New York’s most jockish brutes intermingle with guitar solos that recall both Possessed and Exodus. Dallas’s most evil play with the same toys, but do so with more room and reverb. Grave Danger has its own identity, claustrophobic and to the point.

Foreseen feels like the tip of a new thrash spear. Four years after the pizza party Municipal Waste threw cleared out, it seems that some of their followers are back with their most focused and ferocious work. Meanwhile, acts that didn’t get on the train the first time around, such as this but also even lesser knowns like Eruption and Infernal Majesty zero in on what made the genre so vital in the mid to late eighties. This is an improvement. Re-thrash mark 2 seems less intent on aesthetic replication and more fixated on wrapping strong, cold fingers around my neck and shaking until there’s nothing left in me.
