Exclusive Track Premiere: Unmothered's "Magnetar"

cover

On their Soundcloud profile, the Austin sludge band Unmothered has hashtagged “Magnetar”, the first track to be released from their new EP “U M B R A” as #hauntrock, which I find to be a particularly fitting description. But if you want to dig a little deeper into the track’s meaning, guitarist/vocalist Matt Walker tells us:

“Inspiration for much of what we write comes from the celestial mysteries of the cosmos,” said Walker. “Our interests there often surface in the material as we learn more of such wonders as a Magnetar; a star with a magnetic field one thousand trillion times the size of Earth’s. So strong in fact that it would rip the iron right from your blood should you get too close. As our understanding of these wonders improves so too does our perspective of our place in the universe; one can’t help but feel alone in its vast emptiness, a feeling congruent with the tone and atmosphere of our latest EP U M B R A.”
