Disrotted - "Eternal Gaze" (Song Premiere)

Disrotted-Divination

A low rumble emanates from Chicago. Featuring current and former members of Sick/Tired, Paucities, Winters in Osaka, Harpoon, and more, Disrotted re-emerges with Divinations, a second full-length of putrid, snarling death/doom metal filth.

Opening track “Eternal Gaze” is par for the course for Disrotted, but “par” for these hometown heroes exists on a different level of quality when compared to other Chicago-local doom metal bands. Following in the disciplined, minimalist footsteps tread by Winter’s Into Darkness and Corrupted’s earlier works, this fourteen minute wall of sound trudges through an endless, bleak, sludgy hell. Even at its more atmospheric moments where guitarist Dean Costello handles both guitar and synthesizer duties, Disrotted’s empty, rumbling horror remains intact. This isn’t pretty – there is no romantic melody, no post-rock theatrics, no Delta blues – “Eternal Gaze” is an extensive look into the hollow expanse of eternity.

Hardcore and powerviolence juggernaut Nerve Altar will be releasing Disrotted’s Divination on vinyl this coming July 15 in a limited edition of 500 copies. Scroll below for a first listen to opening track “Eternal Gaze,” but tread lightly, it gets pretty heavy.

From the band:

“With this record we wanted to create a slower, darker album than the self titled LP. We went into the studio with only side A really written, and side B was created on the fly in the studio. While you wouldn’t really hear it in the music, the two main influences on the vocals for this album were Disgorge’s Chronic Corpora Infest album and Diabolical Masquerade’s Ravendusk In My Heart album. Two very very different bands, but both albums inspired me when it came to tracking the vocals. Whereas the debut LP was a collection of our first songs written as a band, this LP feels much more like an album that should be listened to all at once.“ -Adam Jennings
