Karl Jungbluth was a German resistance fighter who was executed in 1945 by the Nazi regime he opposed. Jungbluth, the band, clearly identify with the fallen figure as they “strongly disagree with any pro-views on fascism, racism, homophobia, sexism and any other form of discrimination”. From Munster, Germany, Jungbluth play an incredible blend of emotional and d-beat hardcore in the vein of His Hero Is Gone with the crunchier bits of Converge. Their political identification is present throughout the 16 minutes of their six-song self-titled cassette as their music constantly rides the tipping point of driving chaos and restrained energy. The vocals remind me of Dennis Lyxzen from Refused, particularly during “Traubhagel”. Even though they’re not reinventing the wheel, they perform really powerful music with both great songwriting and a ferocious passion that induces one to go totally apeshit.
