BLACK FLAG has reformed and is in the process of putting finishing touches on a new album with founder Greg Ginn on guitar, Ron Reyes on vocals, Gregory Moore on drums and Dale Nixon on bass.
The announcement is coupled with news that the band will also head out on a 2013 US tour, though so far they have only one date to speak of, at the Muddy Roots Music Festival in Tennessee, on 8/31/13.
Of course the announcement of Dale Nixon on Bass only means that a bassist has not been chosen yet. Nixon was the pseudonym for Greg Ginn on bass on the My War LP and beyond.
Make sure not to confuse Black Flag with Flag.

That Muddy Roots lineup is weird. I guess there are some kindred spirits playing (Eerie Von, Scott Kelly), but Black Flag looks out of place. Then again, maybe the new album will be stripped-down Americana.
By the way, I tried to come up with funny titles for a Black Flag americana album, but all I could think of off the top of my head is _Agrarian Again_, which would probably work better for Megadeth.
There’s no way any of this can lead anywhere good. Seeing the “Flag” line up play some songs will be fun, but anything to do with Ginn playing live or making a new “Black Flag” record is a bad joke with no punchline that will just end in embarrassment.
Maybe they can do a co-headline tour with the Courtship Of Eddie’s Father fronted Dead Kennedys and the Jerry/Dez/Marky Misfits…the money will roll right in…
Do you think it’ll get to the point (a la 50’s groups) where people will just license the name of the band to go do tours?
I could compose an encyclopedia of GrumpyCat memes over this.

Garb-age!!!!!!

BLACK FLAG headlines Muddyroots Musicfestival Aug 31, 2013.
Wasn’t Dale Nixon a pseudonym for Gregg Ginn
“Dale Nixon” HAHAHA!!!!
so that means that when they play live it will be a recorded bass track like at the Cat Rescue show in 2003 at the Palladium

I’d rather let a hippo diarrhea in my mouth than get a new Black Flag record.
Oh man. I love Black Flag as much as the next guy but this is utterly stupid. Mr Ginn – go fishing, feed the pigeons or whatever. Enjoy retirement and stop pissing on your legacy.
At least they picked the best Black Flag singer.
I realise Reyes was most likely the only who was available and/or willing, but still. Reyes shits on all the others.
Absolutely agree!
Greg needs money for weed.
Hahaha, I love the guy who said that Chavo was the best Black Flag singer.
