Cult of Luna return for another set of progressive post-hardcore/sludge with their new effort, the Vertikal LP. Stream that in full below, look for the record via Indie Recordings on 1/25 in the EU and Density on 1/29 in the US. So far no US dates, but Europe can look forward to the band hitting the road this winter at the dates below.

This is absolutely phenomenal. These guys have consistently produced phenomenal material, but this may be their masterpiece. They still don’t quite reach the lofty heights of ISIS, but they are getting there!!
I haven’t paid attention to this band in a little while, but shit. Glad I checked this out, because this is wonderfu.
I thought oceanic was the best pure example of this type of metal, but IMO cult of luna surpassed Isis when Somewhere around the highway came out. Didn’t think they could improve, but somehow they did.
I understand the Isis comparisons, but I personally feel Cult of Luna surpassed Isis, and all of their peers for that matter, nearly 10 years ago.
