Since 2007, Behold The Arctopus has made some serious changes. Dropping the ellipsis from their name, bringing in jazz-noise-skronk-based drummer Weasel Walter, and ushering in more of a black metal influence–likely from guitarist Colin Marston who continues to expand the genre in his recent endeavors with Krallice–the band has shuffled around and tightened up in more ways than one.
Returning with their first full-length since 2007’s debut album Skullgrid, Behold now embarks on an exploration of horror with their latest album, Horrorscension. The album’s first single, “Horrorsentience”, carries over the naming convention for a driving instrumental track–check out the endless blast-beats and shred riffs below. Horrorscension will be released on October 23rd.

I predict a future where Marston clones himself twice and combines Krallice, Dysrhythmia and Behold the Arctopus into a supergroup whose music is so complex it accidentally triggers the aural code that begins the robot apocalypse.
Nice Nyogthaeblisz shirt, Weasel.
Every press photo should shimmy and shake on top of fake photoshop flames.
Yeah. That’s good stuff.
très luttenbarcheresque! which is a good thing. can’t wait for this to drop in full!
Best promo shot since the pic of Gigan in the chocolate shop!
Hope IO is up-to-date on paying its insurance premiums, as the combination of the music here and the flashing GIF could give someone a seizure.
Also, Colin Marston must be a busy guy, with releases just out from all three of his bands. Plus, I’m assuming he must practice his guitar nineteen hours a day or so.
Weasel Walter, Mary Halvorson and Pete Evans put out an album last year called Electric Fruit, they did a really bizaare cover of The Police’s “Roxanne”, which sounds like it’s on some really bad drugs.

that “roxanne” track is just weasel walter solo. it just has the electric fruit cover for some weird reason
Why is it so hard for this band to have decent recording quality?
