You really can’t help but think of the word “atmospheric” when listening to Beyond Terror Beyond Grace’s first LP for Willowtip, Nadir.  The album’s seven monolithic tracks, along with the darkened and bleak nature of the cover art (created by Colin Marks, who has also done artwork for Nevermore, All Shall Perish, Whitechapel, Strapping Young Lad) reflect a dank dissonance that evokes a delightfully wretched emotion.

You will be able to get your hands on a physical copy of the artwork and the music on April 3, the album’s street release date. But for now, you can here the album here in its dark and heavy entirety.

    This sounds pretty good.

Not to nitpick, but ‘…the darkened and bleak nature of the cover art reflect(s) a dank dissonance that evokes a delightfully wretched emotion’ really, really made chuckle.

Say all you can Joe S but Kelly Ketterings best writer for IO. Subtle is name of the game. Stripped sentences. Easy read. I can take it all in and I want to.

Unsure if 6 verbs/adverbs in a single sentence counts as ’stripped’? Darkened, bleak, dank dissonance, delightfully wretched…

Google “Gullfoss” rip the photo, run it through Photo-Shop and you get the “cover art”

Yeah I don’t know how that dude get’s to make crappy hack work like that. Making album art that takes NO effort to do. I could make that in like 5 minutes without looking.

Damn, that’s some fine metal they’ve got there. Definitely want to pick up a copy when it comes out. Looks like Willowtip will have it up on Bandcamp as well as in physical form: http://willowtip.bandcamp.com/album/nadir.

This is blackmetaldeathcore bullshit. Sounds like they stole neurosis and ulcerate songs. Listen to The Destroyers of All for real dark atmospheric music.

There is no deathcore. That’s just a dumb statement.

Much more black metalish than Ulcerate.

@Mike judging a band on a name is beyond stupid. i only care about what they sound like. this is their 3rd full length and nothing they have put out thus far resembles anything deathcore.

Boring. Repetitive. Unoriginal. Willowtip lose Ulcerate to Relapse and sign this piece of shit copycat band to replace them. Artwork is lame too.

This did not particularly tickle my fancy. It is “atmospheric”, but it doesn’t sound very different to the many other atmospheric bm bands out there.

so they are a deathcore, an ulcerate rip off, a neurosis rip off, and a derivative atmospheric bm band all rolled into one somehow. wow. what a bunch of retards.

The way some people talk on these boards, you’d assume that they hate any band that sounds anything like any other band. Their record collections must be quite small.

Generally, I don’t mind at all when I can tell a band draws influence from another band. I think it actually makes a listen more interesting when you can point out sections and say “you can tell these guys listen to a lot of [insert older band here].”

There’s a difference between this and “stealing” another band’s sound. Which I don’t hear very often.

haha!! I agree, god forbid they listen to any thrash made in the 90’s cuz it sounds like thrash in the 80’s :D

Jeezus, some people just don’t appreciate good music anymore because its not original. How does it feel to only buy and own albums from the 80’s because thats when metal was “formed”….douche canoes.

@SleazyP exactly. And bands that may sound a bit like another band to someones ears may not even draw influence from that band. Just listen to the music, not what it may remind you of.
And by the way i think this is album is pretty freaking awesome, looks like Willowtip have put out another winner

    Really? BTBG deathcore?
    …I really hope that’s a troll.

I don’t really hear the Ulcerate either, it’s the same style/genre, hardly a rip off though.
