Dear Bolt Thrower,
As devoted fans, it’s thrilling to see you awaken from semi-slumber to play your birthday-party/Boltfest next month. Honestly, there’s nothing we’d rather do than see your live destructive power unleashed upon mankind, with one of the best lineups ever assembled. Tickets are only £6? Stroke of genius, that.
Now, if you could find it in your crusty hearts to take that show on the road for the rest of the world— that would be great. Meet new and interesting people, kill them, and so forth. We’d owe you a massive debt of honour, to say the least. Where next to conquer? Here, please.
Since we’re on the subject: any chance of selling your merchandise online somewhere (anywhere)? Rememberance is not enough; we need souvenirs. And how about a new album? The last one was surprisingly good, but you know as well as we do that it’s never enough. Hell, your legacy is practically under assault, what with Hail of Bullets initiating repeat incursions deep into Bolt Thrower territory. Come on, guys: glory beckons! Can’t we have one final revelation ? (That’s all I’ve got.)
Yours truly,
Invisible Oranges
Bolt Thrower will celebrate its 25th anniversary at Boltfest on April 7, 2012 at the HMV Forum in London. Tickets were only £5.99, but the show has since sold out.

Bolt Thrower – “Lament”
. . .

Addendum: the other bands playing so far include Autopsy, Discharge, Benediction, and Vallenfyre.
Someone mentioned Europeans are jealous of some tours Americans get. This line-up makes want to say: “yea, maybe, but I think the majority of Fucking Awesome Holy Shit No Filler Crap Band tours indeed are in Europe”
Most deathcore type shit bands, e.g Suicide Silence, Job for a Cowboy etc, don’t come over here but there is still plenty of poxy buy on tours that come around as well.
For Victory!
To be fair, it’s not like you can have small festivals with notable bands in the US necessarily deciding to take THEIR shows on the road all over the world, either. Obviously they tour, but it’s not the same as a celebratory charity event is it?
(Now let’s see who proves me wrong.)
If their “past tours” page is to be trusted, Bolt Thrower haven’t toured the US since ‘94. They did play MDF a few years ago, but beyond that and maybe a few one-off shows I don’t think they’re all that keen on international touring.
Yeah, the MDF show happened only after years of begging & pleading by Ryan & Evan. BT has gone on record saying there are two things they dislike – touring and flying. So that kind of kills most of the hope of anyone outside of the UK ever seeing them again.
I still remember on the 1st day of MDF (2nd if you count the Prefest), they had merch for sale that they self produced, and all the merch was gone after the first hour. I managed to snag a winter hat, which came really handy the last few winters, not to mention it’s great conversation starter!
And of course, the shows they played on back to back nights…unbelievable. One of the best live bands EVER!
Fuck yeah!!! The youtube vids don’t do justice on how Bolt Thrower is so fucking MASSIVE live!

Hm, I disagree on the comment about the new album. Bolt Thrower is one of the really few bands out there who seem to realize an album should be out, when it’s ready to be out. What if it takes 10 years to do it? Does it matter?
What, no link to Anti-Tank (Dead Armour)? You’re more creative than that!
Or need I remind you…
NO GUTS NO GLORY!!!!!
I considered using every song title, but I’m too attached to the shreds of sanity I have left.
(yes, that’s a link)
Seeing Bolt Thrower under the highway in Baltimore on a hot summer night a few years ago was one of the most badass performances I have ever witnessed. I would seriously contemplate crossing the pond to see them again.
My dream concert that I will never get to see: Bolt Thrower and Carcass playing the same stage. Would be content with life if I could just see ONE of those bands live
Throw in Napalm Death and that would be PERFECT.
Not to rub it in, but the bill at MDF that afternoon/evening went: Hail of Bullets, Immolation, Brutal Truth, Napalm Death, and BT. Fucking incredible.
After re-living the memory for just a minute, I think I have to change my underwear.
I’ve seen all of those bands (Carcass and ND twice). And I’m going to Boltfest. Who wants to touch me?
I SAID WHO WANTS TO TOUCH ME GOD DAMNIT
Bolt Thrower killed at MDF, twice. Since a tour is not going to happen, however, how about a new record? Those Once Loyal was their best start-to-finish LP since For Victory… It’s not like any of their records are that different, at least not since In Battle, so I don’t really buy the whole “our new material just doesn’t measure up” line.
Gutted this has sold out, the line up is amazing. Any spare tickets out there?
Bolt Thrower and Asphyx are two bands who don’t tour and won’t come over to the U.S. it seems unless the deal is just right. I don’t see why a smart promoter couldn’t book the two of them for a big show in NYC similar to Boltfest — book them and maybe two killer openers at a reasonably sized venue at a fair price and throw some of the proceeds to charity or something.
Do these guys have day jobs or what? They must get really healthy royalties from catalogue record sales if they never tour, don’t sell merch online, and rarely release a new record…
If they made a spiritual successor to “In Battle…” I would be very pleased, but most of what I’ve heard besides doesn’t really have the charisma to ’stick’ for me. I guess I need to hear that newest one you mentioned..
Love this article! More like an open letter, it’s great. If they play in the US I’m traveling!

The new one is great, but it’s a bit different from the rest of their stuff. It’s a bit more modern sounding, but I see it as a return to quality songwriting after the slightly less inspired Mercenary and Honour, Valour, Pride albums. For my money, it doesn’t get much better than the IVth Crusade and For Victory, though all of the early albums are some of my favorite albums of all time.
I would fucking love to see Bolt Thrower……or at least have a t shirt.
It isnt sold out! Tickets go on sale tonight.
