Get ready to raise your metal claw. We at Invisible Oranges are proud to announce that we will be co-sponsoring sludge-metal supergroup HAIL!HORNET’s first ever American tour!
HAIL!HORNET is “Dixie” Dave Collins (Weedeater, Buzzov*en, Bongzilla) on bass, Erik Larson (Alabama Thunderpussy, Birds Of Prey, Parasytic) on drums, Vince Burke (Beaten Back To Pure, Lunch) on guitars, and T-roy Medlin (Sourvein, Buzzov*en) on vocals. The band released their sophomore album, Disperse The Curse earlier this year on Relapse Records and the album can currently be purchased via Relapse here or iTunes here.
Opening for HAIL!HORNET for the bulk of the tour is Atlanta psychedelic sludge band Zoroaster, whose excellent 2010 album, Matador, is still getting spins on IO iPods. Each night of the tour will also include a special screening of RWAKE lead-singer C.T.’s critically acclaimed documentary on southern metal, Slow Southern Steel. The trailer for the documentary can be seen here. (And if you’re in the area, don’t miss the Jan. 22 date, at Asheville, NC’s The Orange Peel, which will feature a one-off performance by Corrosion of Conformity!)

I AM AT THAT ASHEVILLE SHOW
Out of curiosity, what do you guys provide this tour as a sponsor? Money? Promotion? Lately a few blogs have been “sponsors” of tours and showing up on tour posters. What does it mean?
No money is involved on either end (as far as this is concerned, at least; I’m sure some sponsorships *do* involve money). We give some exposure to the tour, the tour brings some exposure to the site. I should mention that we turn down the vast majority of cross-promotional offers made to us. We’re partnering on this one because it’s a really cool tour!
This is so gay…haha, sponsoring a tour while not really sponsoring a tour, this is like HIV positive gay…
Are you one of those idiots who thinks blogs make money?
Anybody who uses “gay” to mean stupid is an idiot. Also “HIV positive gay” was really funny the first time that one seventh grader said it.
Thanks for the reply and the explanation. I’ve been wondering how that works. Awesome!
