The Devil’s Blood have a new album, The Thousandfold Epicentre, coming on 11/11/11. Ván Records has revealed some artwork and sounds in the videos above. The artwork looks great, and the sounds are promising. Last year’s The Time of No Time Evermore lacked spark, but the Come, Reap EP on Profound Lore (review) was fantastic. Hopefully the new songs re-scale those heights. I’m not terribly excited by this “retro rock marketed as metal” trend (e.g., Ghost), but good songs are good songs, and The Devil’s Blood seem capable of them. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world his music was metal.

You can pre-order it on CD and 2LP here.

That second clip sounds especially good.
I really like this “retro rock marketed as metal” trend as long as it’s done well, and I think The Devil’s Blood do it excellently. I like the way it takes the darkness implicit in psychedelic music, divests it of the hippie bullshit that usually comes with it, and brings that darkness to the forefront.
Nice Kevin Spacey’s altered quote! New band for me. Sounds alluring to my ears.
Can’t wait for this album, love everything about this band, have already pre-ordered the 40 Euro vinyl edition and am avoiding all teasers until I get it…
“The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world his music was metal.” STANDING OVATION
Love this band. Love “retro rock marketed as metal”. TDB blows Ghost out of the water….and I really like Ghost.
Watching them live gives me the chills.

i liked the demo, the 7inch and the EP. unfortunately i found that the album simply lacked ‘good’ songs. it was boring, it was flat and it did not have the hooks that the early stuff did, and i am by no means one of those ‘only the demo was good’ people. first i wanted to blame it on production, then i wanted to blame it on the singers ability to only utilize one single note, but i eventually found that it was just that the songs were boring to me. i’ll check this out, be sure to give them another chance.
the artwork (and especially the font) reminds me of Timo Ketola’s unforgettable blasphemies for Teitanblood…
really looking forward to this. not sure why but all the artwork for this album i’ve seen gives me a bit of a headache. like some kind of tie-dye vomit
Check out these retro rockers also on Van records.

Hey Cosmo,
If this is your last day, have a good one…it’s been fun!
I cannot for the life of me imagine loving the EP but not loving the first album…looking forward to see them at the Dutch Doom Days and hear their new songs!
