Ringworm and Nails head out tonight on the most kick-ass tour of the summer. (See dates below.) Most here are familiar with Nails’ wall of sound. Ringworm is a longtime favorite of mine, but haven’t gotten the shine they deserved, perhaps due to not touring much or being a low priority band on Victory. Hopefully this tour will help change that.
Ringworm’s new album Scars has been lashing my ears this week. The slightly clean, compressed sound is a litle foreign, but the tunes rip and should go down well live. Big chunks sound like long-lost ’80s thrash, specifically Anthrax and Slayer. Human Furnace’s scream sounds as good as ever. These shows with Nails should be a blast. If you can’t make it out to one, check out Ringworm’s back catalogue, but hide your kids, hide your wife, and hide your husband.

I saw Ringworm with Deafheaven in Santa Cruz, I wasn’t too impressed with Ringworm but maybe they where having an off day. Deafheaven was pretty cool though
Hell yes, I’m definitely going to the show at the KC show!!!
I plan on being at the Cleveland show, too bad Peabody’s sucks.
Went to the Gilman show last night. Nails flattened the place.
Totally digging that (accurately described) early ‘Thrax and Slayer vibe.
Goddamn, that El Paso show is going to be the sickest house party ever. If I lived anywhere in Texas I’d go.
lack of nyc date sucks. i’m currently mad at myself for going to this is hardcore on saturday and sunday, thus missing the ‘worm. one of my favorites. cosmo, how does the new record compare to their earlier stuff? Justice… is my personal pick of the bunch.
New record is good. I don’t like the clean production, but I’ve gotten used to it. Some of the songs really rip, and the Jacob Bannon artwork is fantastic throughout (I bought the CD digipak). I prefer Justice more as a filthy raging beast, but this is a fine addition to the discography with some songs that are already etched into my consciousness.
