. . .
Are people still listening to this record? It arrived in a flurry of underground hype, which I still don’t quite get (review). But I do appreciate its huge tones and hypnotic jangles. In this interview, frontman Dagon (evidently unmasked) talks about his Fernandes guitar and its effect on his tone.
Hells Headbangers has gone all-out with its vinyl pressing of Ominous Doctrines. Pressings come in three flavors, all 45RPM double LPs with a laser etching on side four, and with a poster included. Black vinyl comes in a gatefold package. Picture discs (shown on front) are now sold out. A special colored vinyl “tome” (shown above; evidently other Inquisition records will get the “tome” treatment) is available for pre-order. More photos and ordering information are here.

Yup, still listening to this one and still loving every bit of it. I’m probably going to pick this up if I manage to find an European distro where it doesn’t cost an arm.
I just have to say that “Mmm…Sacrillicious” might be the best tag line yet!
Should be available as a frog-shaped LP in green vinyl.
been listening to this every day this week. so to answer your question: “yes” .
I want this desperately
Yes, definitely still listening to this.
Listen to this and their debut weekly. Have the debut on HH vinyl… magnificent packaging. Maybe the best I’ve seen (Robotic Empire puts out some pretty great stuff, too, and the most recent Watain was incredible… HH is on par with those). So… music AND art / package are top-notch.
yep, still enjoying this but i’ve got the no colours version- it has a quality that other genre releases just lack- fantastic riffs and ominous vocals
Definitely still listening…great album, stoked for this version of the vinyl!
That is beautiful. *tear*
i guess for me personally it’s the vocals and the melodies and exquisite performance overall that makes this stand out from other black metal, like for instance that ‘negative plane’ album you were going on about a while back. which, though not a bad album has completely left my mind and if it were playing right now i could not tell you that it was in fact, negative plane or any other black metal band of the moment. same vocals, same songs, same everything to these ears. inquisition stands out for me, and they also kind of replace immortal, in that those guys just don’t make exciting albums anymore and i love that there abbath voice.
just listened again a couple das ago. probably going to buy this too. Parasitic records is distroing one of their older records with a similar tome treatment, can’t remember who did it…probably HH.
Still listening. But now they got me hooked and i want more vinyl.waka waka munch munch(pac-man)
“Should be available as a frog-shaped LP in green vinyl.” Epic comment is epic.
Love the riffs on this album but the vocals still don’t do much for me, pretty much in full agreement with Cosmo’s review. Depressed frog on valium.
Also, that fernandez guitar is pretty sweet.
Standard opinion of newcomers to this band about the vocals. If Dagon would of taken the easy route by useing typical over-used BM voice,Inquisition would not have that extra mystical/ritual punch that makes them unique to their fans.Standing out amongst hordes of xeroxed Darthrone and Dissection’s.Just pre-ordered above version
Dig the pseudo-Venom art…
Oh yeah, I’m still listening to this. It’s still as good as when I started. Think I’ll blast it at the gym today, actually.
Just picked this up, and as someone lukewarm on black metal vocal stylings in general, I dig the way they are done here. They come off as a little less harsh and aggressive, and leave plenty of space for the excellent riffage.
Does anyone else feel guilty that the artwork was produced by one “Satanic Skinhead”? Personally, I think the artwork is amazing (as is the art for the reissue), but I’m conflicted about buying/wearing a shirt knowing about the Nazi-ness.
@Andrew… yes, I took pause on that, too. I was Googling ‘Inquisition shirts’ and came across a forum where Mr. Skinhead was peddaling shirts. He specifically said no shipping to Israel. No skin off my back, but the closed-mindedness had transcended art into reality. Almost like a “NO COLOREDS” sign on a 1950s Birmingham, AL diner. To me, the metal community has always just ~seemed~ really into excluding people, a posturing of sorts, but was actually very inviting to those who wanted to participate. Here, however, is someone who really wants to hate. Which is sad.
That said, I bought the tome vinyl and can’t wait to get it in my hands and appreciate it, art and all. Separating art from artist has never been too hard for me. Maybe I should reconsider that.
well if your really worried about who hates who , then rest assured that Dagon (founder and guitar/vox) is half Colombian and the band plays all over the world(Bangkok to Bogota).
Isreal is ground zero for religious freakdom and centuries of hate between jews and palistinian’s,muslim and christian (who still to this day are killing each other),so dont lose to much sleep and worry about little Anti-christ Kramer being a satanicskinhead and not wanting to sell his product to a certain area.Would be killer to see Inquisition play in front of that wall all the people kiss….XD
Oh no!! Someone who is intolerant and hateful in Black Metal?? This is complete madness!!!! What is this world coming to???
Seriously, people bitching about the artist’s views, fuck off and stay out of Black Metal. This music is not for you.
