King Giant are another band whose obscurity enrages me. If I had a label, I would put out their 2009 album Southern Darkness in a heartbeat. (I wrote about it and one of their videos here.) It completely embodies its title. Fans of Clutch, Hank III, and Eyehategod, take note!
Now Southern Darkness has made it onto vinyl. The LP comes on 180g vinyl in two flavors – oxblood and oxblood with gold and silver splatter (pictured above). Both versions come with digital download cards. Stream Southern Darkness in full below, and soak up some of the most honest and soulful music being made today.

i know it’s not popular, but this album and the identity ep are on itunes as well.
Lovely vinyl presentation. I just wish I could afford it…guess I need to rearrange my priorities.
I’m from deep deep deep Mississippi and I never understood or identified with southern fried chicken metal, Eyehategod nailed it, everyone else sounds like rawer 90s alternative radio rock
Great band. Nice to see them spotlighted here. I got this in the mail last week and have been playing it a lot.
I thought I was in love ’til the vocals kicked in. I have to agree with RARF, it’s a little derivative. A tad under-baked. Although, the Deliverance Metal of “Southern Darkness” is a nice idea.
This is bad ass. Any Clutch reference will get my attention.
