Due to popular demand, I’ve resurrected the “Upcoming metal releases” list. However, it will take a different form now. Instead of a static page, which gets unwieldy with even a fraction of the 10,000+ releases annually, I’ve opened up access to my Gmail calendar called, naturally, “Upcoming metal releases.”
“>Here is the calendar as a web page. (If you have Gmail, you can incorporate the calendar into yours as well as search within it.) You can subscribe to the calendar via XML here, though I’m unsure how user-friendly the feed is. If you view the calendar as a web page, I recommend using the “Agenda” view (see tab on upper right). Click on the entries to expand and collapse them. The presentation is primitive, but should suffice for most purposes. I have included this information in the sidebar as well.
I maintain the list on a rolling basis as information enters my inbox. Thus, the list is hardly complete but should contain most of the major releases that people care about. As always, use the comments box for corrections or additions.
Personally, I’m excited this month about the Meshuggah live DVD. (See trailer above.) I’m also curious about the Dark Fortress and Hayaino Daisuki records, as well as the US release of the new Heathen album (preview tracks here). This is not a strong month for releases, but the year’s just starting.

I prefer a long page-scrolling list to the calandar version. All those bands and words jumbled together right after another like one huge run-on sentence makes it extremely difficult to tell one relase from the other. It also makes it very difficult to recognize a band you're familiar with.
I personally like this a lot since I use Google calendar. Nice work!
The new Dark Fortress is (imo_ an absolute work of art. Love it.
I've been hearing this name Dark Fortress a lot and I've hesitated to check it out because the name is kinda bad. What are they about?
This is excellent – many thanks.
Thanks, this is great. I'm a big fan of sharing Google calendars. I maintain (as best I can) a Google calendar of upcoming NYC area metal concerts here.
This is very hard to read if you don't use Google Calendar. Is there a way to bold the bands names?
Fuck yes! Thanks.
Interesting idea, I look forward to seeing if it actually works out.
Awesome resourced. Google Calendar'd!
I, Monarch and sickofmotion – A single, static, scrolling page is out of the question, as that is more than double the work for me. (It duplicates my personal calendar, and a change in one necessitates a change in the other.) I spent scores if not hundreds of hours on that last year, and I am not giving away my time like that again.
I agree, however, that band names are hard to recognize in this format. Since I'm unaware of any way to html format text within Google Calendar, I'll put band names in all caps. I'll take some time to do that for existing entries and will do that going forward.
Helm – Dark Fortress is modern black metal (not afraid of the heavy); one guitarist plays in Triptykon. Their MySpace:

Why the hell is High on Fire not on this??????
Whoops, simple oversight – fixed! Thanks, Anon.
I'm anxious for that Meshuggah DVD…it's gonna be huge
I sure hope you can keep this going on a monthly basis, Cosmo. This is an invaluable resource.
Thanks for putting bands in caps, it's much easier to read this way.
I don't see the Ludicra album "The Tenant" on your list, release date is March 16 via Profound Lore.
Also, I don't know if this fits your definition of metal, but Italian doom/stoners Ufomammut will have a new album out on May 5 (but I figured if Red Sparowes are there, I could give "metal releases" a broad sense).
Thanks for the info! Amazon lists the Ludicra release date as March 3, which is odd since it's not a Tuesday. So I'm rounding up to the next Tuesday, March 9.
Re: Ufomammut, that would count stylistically. However, I'm going to wait until I see a concrete US release date. It usually takes some time for stuff to get over here from Europe.
I might change this standard in the future as a release in one location increasingly becomes a de facto release everywhere due to the Internet.
Yeah, the release date initially was March 3, but Profound Lore "tweeted" the other day that it was pushed back to March 16.
OK, got it – the calendar reflects that. Thanks!
High On Fire doesn't need to be here where's Nekrasov,Gnaw Their Tongues,Njiqahdda, metal that matters…
Anonymous – If you have release dates to contribute, by all means please leave them in the comments, and I'll consider them for the calendar.
