Funny story about that. I saw it posted on a messageboard shortly after arriving in Korea, and reacted as everyone probably did– "whoa, crazy crossdressing Asian bass shredder! This is fucked!"
But the non-Korean script at the top of the video put me off exploring it any further (well, that wasn't the only thing about it that put me off…)
Anyway, I was at a metal show in Seoul maybe a month later, standing outside having a smoke, and I see some dude get out of a car wearing high heels and booty shorts, and I lose my shit- "That's that fucking guy!"
I couldn't believe it. He plays in a band called Silent Eye (http://www.myspace.com/silenteyemetal) and they absolutely shred live. The other members are only slightly less odd to behold.
Definitely one of the biggest WTF experiences in my life.
I was fine with the weird cross-dressing dude playing bass, but then it gets to the part where he/she drinks a bunch of milk and vomits. That's when I WTF?!-ed. How did this become an integral part of the plot?

Hi Cosmo, I'd love to read an article by you about bass guitar in metal in general, and maybe about lead singer/bassist like Lemmy and Phil Lynott, like Jebb Riley from Disappearer/Doomrider, and so many more. Heavy bassline is what got me into metal! And bands with a bassist in the frontline sound really different to me. I love also female bassist like Kim Gordon (listen to Theresa's Sound-World by Sonic Youth) and Jo Bench (in Anti-Tank by Bolt Thrower)…

Bassists don't need to worry about hair covering their face as they make an O face during a solo.
You can definitely guess the instrument that a guy plays in the band just by looking at the band photo.

Stacy Maisenbach (bassystacy) can wear braids anytime she wants. I'd normally say she's one hot metal chick / woman, but we've been friends for a long time, and were in a band together…so that's kinda like saying your sister is hot…she'll kick yer ass too, if you're not careful.

The lyrics also have to do with milk, hence his strange interpretation
I, personally am a sucker for a guy with a pair of braids, especially if he's shreds. It makes me weak in the knees. I think it might have to do with keeping the hair out of the way though, I know it's what keeps me from hacking all of my hair off in winter.
