UA - Thanks for the link to that great live footage. I like how the crowd was really into it, especially the crowd surfer who dogpiled on top of the stage diver.

Speaking of the old days:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qif38txFKk

This was the Death/Pestilence/Carcass tour. I am actually somewhere in this crowd. :( Old!

This is the famous show where there was a riot after Death came on...

That appearance of Napalm Death reminds me of that one time Celtic Frost went on TV in some teenybopper show in Switzerland:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7S7TosWqUU

From Enslavement To Obliteration is my favorite Napalm Death album, BTW

Very cool interview. I hope he doesn't end being embarrassed about his metal years...like Larry from Possessed or whatever. It would be a shame. He's a great guitarist and his contributions to metal will always be remembered for being innovative, creative, creepy as hell, etc. ;) I had the chance to see Carcass play a couple of times back in the old days and he was always inspirational...just a little ball of whirling blond hair and flying fingers... :)

Outstanding interview, Cosmo, and a really great read. Firebird isn't my cup 'o joe at all, but Steer really could start making dance music with synths and sequencers and still get a pass in my book. I don't think there's another guitarist who has pioneered so many sub-genres in metal.

I am 50/50 on what I've heard of The Answer. They're proficient at what they do, but the recordings have a harsh, modern edge that turns me off. Also, they're more on the hard rock side of things, which doesn't appeal to me so much. Firebird's approach is a little softer. For throwback retro rock, I still prefer vintage Lenny Kravitz.

Cosmo - if you like Firebird, what do you think of The Answer?
