Goreaphobia’s still got it. After putting out a demo and 7″ in the early ’90s and then disappearing into alcohol and personality conflicts, the Philly death metallers are reunited and reinvigorated. Their new album, Mortal Repulsion, is dark, woody, and raw, yet controlled. The old masters have old tools, but they’re sharp. Speaking of Master, Goreaphobia wrap up their tour with Speckmann and co. soon. Reports have been favorable — see here and here. Mortal Repulsion comes out on Ibex Moon on August 18. Here’s a taste.

Not at all what I was expecting,a lot more blackened flourishes. Lovin' what I'm hearing though, thanks for pointing this one out!
That tour was badass. Master on the last two tours I saw them was pretty much Phil Speckman + 2/4 of Goreaphobia. Goreaphobia put on a tight show more than 2 weeks ago, by the way. And speaking of tight, when I saw Goreaphobia open for Master, Chris Gamble was wearing a gimp mask + spiked leather arm bands + bullet belt + leather pants + get this, an UNDER ARMOUR shirt!!! Leather daddy wear just doesn't mix well with Under Armour. Sorry. I wish I had pics. If any of you are going to Central Illinois Metalfest this weekend, you'll know what I mean.
Wow, this was a pleasant surprise. Better than a lot of other reunited bands.
Goreaphobia is an old fave of mine. Saw them at the Hostile City Deathfest, which was not a great festival overall, but Gorephobia was awesome, gimp mask, underarmour and all. I was really impressed with Alex Bouks' playing – he is a terrific death metal guitarist. As good as Bouks was with his main band, he was even better during his set with Master. Really worth catching these guys if you get the chance.

Here's what to expect- all of it good!
Yeah, this was a nice surprise…very dark, gloomy, excellent stuff. I'm glad they finally got their album out.
