Still heavily stoked on this "Only my heart talkin'" though. One of the greatest ballads ever in the history of time, even with the Casio synth (listen closely at like 02:09, it's so half-assed it sounds like TWO Casios.)

Also my "WORD VERIFICATION" for this comment is "QUESUP" which is like your Mexican friend knocking on your door and you don't answer it quick enough and he's all "QUE?! SUP?!?!"

Aside from this I'm convinced I can hear Steven Tyler doing some horrible trademark shriek backup vocals on this song, but I suppose it might just be old Alice doing a spot-on impression. I wonder if it says this on his r

I kind of hear what you're talking about. But the compression to me seems more modern (punchy) than old-school (pillowy). I think the old-school feeling comes from the drum reverb.

So I'm listening to this covers record that Hatebreed just put out, and aside from being stoked to the moon that they covered the best Metallica song not on …And justice for all, I notice that inbetween all the compression they have the late 80's gated snare. WHAT. THE. FUCK. Check it out in the beginning of the Cro-Mags cover. It's right there in the middle of the mix.

svein, I kind of like that gated snare. It sounds so bad, but you instantly know where you are: THE '80S. And I dunno, Blizzard of Ozz seems pretty solid to me.

forrest, the thought disturbs me, but I think the reason the track seems slow is b/c it was meant to be pitched up by DJ's in clubs.

jess, I think I've heard some remix of "Apologize" at my gym also. I'm not sure, though. This stuff all blends together after a while.
