Great album, but I prefer "The Work..." as the band's best.

"Godflesh with a killer hangover" is the best description imaginable. Thanks for always having killer writing on this site.

I did actually pick up Odinist, but wasn't as pleased as I'd hoped I'd be. I'd heard their older stuff and wanted to support what I think was a neat act, but I think I'm about done with them.

I like this second only to The Work Which Transforms... He's trying a few new things, songwriting-wise, and there are a few tracks that really stand out from his usual soup of detuned chorus-heavy chromatics, I'm hoping he goes towards that direction in the future.

The drum machine I find fitting and well-done, but I guess I might have a higher tolerance because when I listen to BAN I do not hear 'the metal band that could have been' underneath so much as I hear smart guitar compositions with a dark aesthetic around them. The black metal element has withered away and what's left is idiosyncratic, weird metal.

This is a really excellent album. The riffing/songwriting is fantastic, but I missed a little bit of the overwhelming darkness of Mort. Just a great band.
