I finally gave this a listen to and I thought some of it sounded like High on Fire style. It’s pretty groovy shit though (if groovy applies to metal).

I like these two tracks a lot, but guys, come on, this is nowhere close to being in Mastodon’s league. And I’m not even all that big of a Mastodon fan.

i saw these guys open up for mastodon, and i like mastodon, but i felt bad for mastodon. they put on a hell of a show.

I got this one too and was pretty taken with it – probably would have reviewed for Prefixmag if it weren’t released five months ago. Deadsea’s guitar solos shred to be sure and they somehow do clean vocal harmonies without causing me to cringe.

Whence the Intronaut comparisons? Deadsea have more of a classic prog, leaning-towards-Dream-Theater shred style than Intronaut. They’d be good touring partners methinks though Intronaut still knock me off my ass every time I listen to them, while Deadsea is just a mega-eyebrow-raiser.
