Wax Trax
1988
Unlikely one-off collaboration between Ian MacKaye and Ministry, Pailhead submerged its midrange in hollow drums and rubbery bass. MacKaye’s voice drove through the resulting void like a Mack truck; Al Jourgensen added howls and FX. “I Will Refuse” fused post-punk and thrash, while “Don’t Stand in Line” was a literal union of Fugazi and Ministry. Sadly, “Man Should Surrender” proved prescient:
You engineer the stratosphere
You commandeer this hemisphere
But water will still come
Man should surrender
Ministry’s Side Trax reissued these six tracks, but with remastering problems, so stick with the original – out-of-print, but findable.

Man I fucking loved this record in high school. Still do in fact.
