In WTF news, Kylesa will be playing select US west coast dates with Lacuna Coil and Within Temptation. This makes no sense other than for the fact that Kylesa happens to have a woman in its lineup also (and that maybe it qualifies as Southern gothic rock). It’s great that the band will reach new audiences, but the Hot Topic set may be in for a nasty shock.
(with Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation)
5/30 – Spokane, WA – The Boulevard
5/31 – Portland, OR – Aladdin Theater
6/01 – San Francisco, CA – Slim?s
6/04 – San Luis Obispo, CA – Downtown Brewing Company
6/05 – Sparks, NV – New Oasis
6/06 – Salt Lake City, UT – Avalon Theatre
The band has also released a video for “Hollow Severer” from its album Time Will Fuse Its Worth. Accompanying the video is a contest offering the chance to win Kylesa vinyl and t-shirts.

Hmmm.. They’re skipping L.A. That’s OK, I’m not into these bands and I’ve got a full concert schedule upcoming.
Mainstream music makes no sense.
Not that underground musicians are well known for being normal and logical people but at least the craziest one are really crazy.
This … makes no sense.
I saw an ad for a tour yesterday: “The Hottest Chicks in Metal” or something like that. I shit you not. I don’t think Kylesa was in the ad, but I think the other two were. I’m surprised on many levels. Terrible idea for a tour. And not because of the bands, whether I like them or not. It’s just the concept. Insulting, no?
Lacuna Coil have had it coming to them, they’re used their pretty singer to get far regardless of whether their music is worth it or not. I understand she’s a model or an ex-model or something? If you don’t want to be in the ‘omg hott chicks in metal lol!’ roster, then treat your singer like a singer and not like an advertisement for the CD you want to sell.
I made the mistake of bying a copy of Metal Hammer GR to kill some time during a flight and the amount of publicity shots I saw of new bands with 5 blackclad dudes with makeup in the background plus ‘hott chick’ in a dress in the foreground surely means Lacuna Coil aren’t the only ones doing the sexual publicity thing.
Insulting? To Kylesa maybe, I don’t have much info on how the other band on the bill handles their singer’s prettyness but Lacuna Coil certainly have no right to complain.
You are right to some degree about Lacuna Coil but still it’s pretty much insulting, and continues to stereotypes metal as a genre full of macho type dudes, to do a tour whose selling point is : there are chicks on stage. It’s not a strip club, it’s a metal show godddamit.
Tell that to other ‘quality’ acts like Cradle of Filth that have strippers on stage.
Most of mainstream metal *is* chauvinist and sexist, it’s not an unfair rep.
