Jared Anderson recently passed away at the tragically young age of 30. He was the bassist/vocalist on Morbid Angel’s Gateways to Annihilation tour and on Hate Eternal’s first two albums. He also had a solo project called Internecine, which released one album, 2002’s The Book of Lambs
. On this album, Anderson handled bass, guitars, and vocals, showing himself to be one talented cat.
Internecine sounds like a more straightforward Hate Eternal. Listening to Hate Eternal can be punishing (though rewarding), so if you like HE’s ultra-fast blastbeats and Morbid Angel-style riffing, but want songs that aren’t quite as out there, check this out. The riffs are solid, the songs flow well, and the playing is impeccable. With Tony Laureano and Derek Roddy on drums, and Erik Rutan turning in guest solos, you can’t go wrong. Rutan produced and engineered the album, which has his trademark warm, natural sound. Roddy plays on the first clip here, while Laureano drums on the second.
Ceremonies of Deceit
For Thee I Bleed
This album slays from start to finish, and I’m surprised it doesn’t have more notoriety. You can pick it up at amazingly low prices
